Chairman of Board W.T. Forbes

IMG_0019 8x10Winslow Forbes resides in Durham NC, with his wife and family. He is a graduate of North Carolina Central University, with a BA Degree in Public Administration. He has been a member of a local law enforcement department for more than twenty-five years and currently serves as an Assistant Chief with the Department. In July 2011, he graduated from PERF (Police Executive Research Forum) an Executive Management Leadership Course, located in Boston MA. Winslow is the Founder and Chairman of D.L. Forbes Youth Foundation, a non-profit organization that mentors youth with their leadership and academic skills.

Numerous articles have noted his accomplishments with the DL Forbes Youth Foundation such as: The News and Observer, Durham Herald Sun and Spectacular Magazine. In addition to Winslow’s other achievements, he has received the following awards: The Lamplighter Youth Outreach Award and the Men of Vision Youth Mentoring Award, for his vast involvement and services with the local youth. Winslow was also chosen as the “Person of the Week” by WTVD 11 News, with a positive interview focusing on the issues youth are facing in the community. He is also serving on several Boards including: Northeast Central Durham (a community based program), Men of Vision(a youth mentoring program), MPowerhouse (a health based youth program), and EMS Advisory Council Board.

Winslow is a positive advocate for young people who face economic and academic challenges. He continues to speak throughout the communities while teaching youth how to be productive citizens. Winslow firmly believes we (the community) can turn youth crime around by working together.
